We Sing Scéalta: Sean-nós and storytelling
In the indigenous singing tradition of Ireland, an sean-nós, it is customary to call upon a singer by asking them to “abair amhrán” - literally to “say a song”. Gathered together by Kerry singer-songwriter Amano, this Hidden Hearth song circle features several artists who carry the sean-nós tradition today. Combining the heritage of the seanchaí and the amhránaí, each singer will be invited to tell the story of how they came to know, love and keep alive the legacy of a particular song in their practice. Abair Amhrán offers a unique glimpse into the personal depth of song carrying in an open and accessible style.
*This is a bilingual event, no prior knowledge of An Ghaeilge/ Irish is required*
