The disembodiment of the Irish language has caused Her to exist only as passing words or common phrases within the psyche of most Irish minds who try to speak Her. But where does an Ghaeilge live within the body? We SAY ‘she’s in there’, but where? Cén áit? A language derived from the landscape - from the trees - now so disconnected from the earth bodies who yearn to speak her again.
In the same way that a language has grammar rules - we know that the language of the body also has certain nuances and subtleties that allow it to be expressed in full fluency & vibrancy; and that movement practices like yoga and somatics are effective ways to shift the deep-seated content of all of these parts of us to move us back in the direction of wholeness.
This workshop will explore Irish grammar through the lens of somatic movement, yoga and meditative reflection on the link between body, language and landscape.
